Aghah Valery Binda

Agriculture and Bio-conservation Organization for Youth Empowerment and Rural Development (ABOYERD)

Aghah Valery Binda successfully planned and executed a baseline study on the Banded Wattle-eye, a rare and endangered bird species endemic to the Bamenda Highlands of Cameroon in 2017/2018 for which he received an award from the Society for Conservation Biology (SCB). In 2018, Valery initiated an ongoing project in Campo Ma’an National Park with the goal of working with local communities around the Park to conserve great apes and forest elephants through environmental education/conservation awareness, forest restoration and capacity building in beekeeping and use of beehive fences to deter elephants from farmlands, thus mitigating human-elephant conflicts.
