Dodo is committed to building local capacity and providing opportunities to be engaged in conservation at a national level through the AWF Congo Shipping Project.  When he joined AWF he pointed out early on that locals still don’t know exactly what AWF did in Maringa Lopori Waba and he has helped bridge the gap. Before AWF started working with the communities, people were confusing bonobos for mokombosos, the valley chimpanzee and through the awareness campaigns he has run within the landscape, people now understand the difference and the importance of protecting these endangered species.
